Abstract
A review of the present-day state of satellites passive methods of atmosphere remote sensing is made. Four methods are considered: the transparency method, the method of reflected and scattered solar radiation, the thermal radiation and remote refractometry method. The physical and mathematical basis for each of these techniques is discussed briefly as well as their strong and weak points.
