Abstract
A review of application possibilities of digital image processing of remotely sensed phenomena of the earth is given. Several application examples, processed on DIBIAS, DFVLR's digital interactive Bavarian image analysis system/and representing different disciplines, are discussed, showing different possibilities of image processing. Among them are geologic, oceanographic, and cartographic examples, as well as applications in the field of atmospheric physics, correlation of Seasat SAR to a LANDSAT scene, and an evaluation of a commercial compression algorithm.
