Abstract
The performance of classical two-dimensional matched filter image detectors is analyzed in terms of both scene and system parameters. Crucial scene parameters include both the bandwidth of the scene and the type of correlation in the scene data (whether exponential, Whittle, or Gaussian correlated, or in between). System parameters include field-of-view, number of pixels, scale and rotation errors, fractional pixel misregistration, etc. Analysis treats both analog and digital correlation detectors. The influence of signal-to-noise is treated for Whittle correlation only.
