Abstract

Very little is known regarding the optical, mechanical and thermal characteristics of calcium lanthanum sulfide (CaLa₂S₄). Property data including absorption coefficient, Knoop hardness, flexural strength, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, thermal expansion, thermal conductivity and calculated thermal shock resistance R' are presented for CaLa₂S₄ at its present state of development.
