Abstract
A 1000 rule prototype knowledge based system composed of a network of knowledge bases that aids shop floor personnel doing electrical connector assembly to select the correct tooling and materials for each job is described. It is currently in trial use and has demonstrated 100% accuracy and significant reductions in process specification search time. A production prototype is being developed.
