Abstract
Hg short arc lamps combined with ellipsoidal concave mirrors are used today in illumination systems with a high radiant flux. The secondary focus of such systems can be considered as a "Secondary Light Source" which is quite inhomogeneous. The limits of such systems and the possibility of improvement will be discussed.
