Abstract
This paper discusses the software for a satellite inertial autonomous self-correcting attitude determination and control system (ADCS). The mathematical models used and the challenges that have arisen are discussed. The ADCS has to automatically update its control profile after deployment, continuously, compensating for a potentially changing center of mass and removing the requirement to test the system in the orbital environment to develop the initial profile. Rough estimation is provided by the accelerometers and solar cells and refined using an outward facing star sensor. A limited functionality mode fallback, low computational power and environmental exploration mode has also been developed.
