Abstract
This paper presents an overview of a proposed machine vision system which uses artificial neural network type computing to track rapidly moving objects in space. Artificial neural networks theoretically have inherent advantages for this task such as real time computing speed and relatively small hardware size. The system is required to recognize the object in the presence of some other patterns, determine its location relative to a frame of reference and compute its velocity. Trainable ANNs are proposed to solve the computation problem.
