Abstract
Single photon laser ranging technology improves the sensitivity of photoelectric detection to single photon level, which can greatly improves the ability of laser ranging. However, in the application of airborne laser ranging, the background light will have a great impact on the ranging results. Avalanche photodiode arrays (APDs) operating in Geiger mode can eliminate the submergence effect of high frequency background noise and improve the detection ability of echo light signal in strong light background. Aiming at airborne air-to-air small target ranging, different pulse cumulative times are selected, and single APD and APD arrays are used for ranging simulation. The simulation results show that the farthest ranging scheme is that 16-element APD array adopts 10-pulse cumulative ranging scheme, and the ranging capability is increased by about 19% compared with single APD.
