Abstract
Conventional static communication network mainly constructed by copper cable or optical fiber, is an important infrastructure of data center, which incur poor extensibility, high cost, higher energy consumption. In this paper, a new method used to construct a simple and low-cost reconfigurable free space optics(FSO) link is investigated. The optical link between any transmitter and any receiver is established by controlling a three-dimensional (3D) rotating mirror installed on the ceiling, according to the demand of the network topology. The link used to construct the network topology consists of low cost components, which providing dynamically communication link for data center. When testing the FSO link between the same columns, the optical power received by the optical receiver is 3.859mW. When testing the FSO link between different columns, the 3D rotating mirror was controlled ten times, and the average received optical power was 3.258mW with a variance of 0.45. The test results show that a reliable and reconfigurable FSO link can be established by controlling the 3D rotating mirror.
