Difference holographic interferometry (DHI) is a useful method for direct optical comparison of the dynamic be-haviour of two nominally identical objects (master and test object). A simplified technique of DHI was recently developed by the authors. This method, the single reference beam DHI (SRB DHI), has an inherent drawback. Due to the complexity of the difference interference fringes, the difference interferograms are of relatively low visibility in comparison with those obtained by the dual reference beam DHI (DRB DHI). The present paper reports the evaluation and measurement of the difference interference patterns obtained by SRB DHI for unstructured object beams and for actual phase objects (filament lamps), too. In the first case the reconstructed holographic interferograms were directly scanned. In the latter case the holographic interferograms were photographed. It was shown, that, albeit with a reduced visibility, usable difference holographic interferograms can be obtained by this method.
