1 June 1990Observation of collisional excitation energy transfer in a transverse-discharge copper vapor laser
We report the observation of collisional excitation energy transfer between the two upper levels of the copper vapor laser pumped by transverse discharge. When one of the two lasers (510.6 and 587.2 nm) is fed back into the laser cavity, the other laser is significantly enhanced. This opens up the new possibility of efficiently extracting the laser energy at one wavelength. This paper reports the preliminary results of the experiment.
