Abstract
Ab initio calculations for the electronic states of (RbF)(+) ionic excimer arising from the Rb(+) + F,Rb(2+) + F(-),Rb(+) + F(-), and Rb + F(+) separated states are reported. The emission at 130 nm is identified to the transition between the ionic 2 2 Sigma(+) and l 2 Sigma(+) states which was estimated to occur at 124 nm with an spontaneous lifetime of 0.9 ns. The ionic 2 2 Pi state is found to lie close to the ionic 2 2 Sigma(+) state of a lifetime of 5.6 ns.
