Abstract
We present a new iconographic technique that can be used to create integrated displays of multiparameter spatial distributions. One specific approach uses color coding to integrate up to three parameters. Geometric codes provide for the display of more parameters than three, with potentially many different forms of coding. Development of these displays requires an appropriately comprehensive and flexible environment, which is provided by the Exvis system we have been developing. Three examples of multipramameter distributions integrated with geometric coding are presented. The complexity and challenge of conducting research to find effective iconographic codings are discussed, and some strategy is suggested.
