Abstract
The simulation of the physics near a black hole has received significant attention in recent years with the development of the techniques of Numerical Relativity. This work is concerned with the dynamics of dense, hot relativistically moving fluid near a black hole event horizon as it has a head-on collision with the black hole. Since the resulting fluid dynamics is quite complex and occurs in a region of large spacetime curvature, there are several challenges to be overcome in visualizing some of the physical variables. We describe the salient features of the physics involved and the techniques used to visualize the fluid properties and present an example of the collision between a' dense concentration of hot fluid and a non-rotating black hole. We also discuss some of the needs for effective visualization which need to be addressed in the near future.
