Abstract
We present theoretical results for the conductance of a novel one-dimensional semiconductor superlattice (1DSL) structured in a ballistic constriction. We predict sharp switching between quantized conductance plateaus, as the Fermi level moves through the 1DSL miniband gaps, and strong resonant conductance oscillations. These effects are predicted to be observable even for systems with very few periods, and to be nearly independent of the geometry of the constriction openings.
