Abstract
For studying the effect of polarity reversal electric field on the internal insulation of converter transformers, the article uses the electroacoustic pulse method as the basic principle. By measuring the space charge density at each position of oilpaper insulation under different polarity inversion times, the polarity inversion time’s influence on the oil-paper’s charge accumulation and transient characteristics is analyzed. At the same time, the electric field intensity close to the grounding electrode is obtained by integrating the charge density, and the influence of charge which is left during the inversion on the local electric field is also discussed. The research results show that as the polarity inversion time shortens, the intensity of the internal resident charge raises, which leads to the increase of the electric field intensity at the same polar voltage. In addition to that, the amplification effect of the electric field becomes more pronounced. Besides, the presence of resident charge distorts the local electric field and increases its intensity. The findings of this research have significant value in guiding for elucidating the spatial charge distribution characteristics of oil-paper insulation with the effect of the reversal of the polarity of the electric field and the impacting mechanism of resident charge on insulation degradation.
