Abstract
A alloy Al1.5Cu3.5Nd was synthesized by experimental methods. The phase composition of the alloy after high temperature annealing was observed and analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. It indicates that the alloy is a single-phase alloy with uniform chemical composition. Then, the powder x-ray diffraction patterns of the compound were collected for Rietveld refinement. The results of Rietveld refinement show that Al1.5Cu3.5Nd is isostructural with AlCu4Nd, crystallizes in hexagonal CaCu5-type structure, the space group is P6/mmm (No.191), its lattice constants a, c, unit-cell volume V, formula units per unit cell z, and calculated density ρx are 5.1707(3) Å, 4.2011(2) Å, 97.27 Å3, 1, and 6.95 g/cm3, respectively. The residual factors are Rp = 3.31%, Rwp = 4.35% and Rexp = 2.87%.
