Abstract
The advanced materials for next generation MO disks should have a high intrinsic corrosion resistance and a strong MO effect, especially, toward shorter wavelengths to which laser diode wavelength is shifting. Bi-substituted iron garnet films and Pt/Co multilayer films are promising candidates. They are compared with conventional a-RT films.
