Abstract

The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of single-junction chalcogenide solar cells has reached 25.7% at this stage, which is close to the limit of photoelectric conversion efficiency of single-junction perovskite cells. And the proposed method by using multi-junction solar cells provides an effective way to further break through the limiting efficiency. In this paper, we study TiO2/CsFAPbIBr/Spiro-OMeTAD and n-a-Si/i-a-Si/n-c-Si/i-a-Si/p-a-Si tandem stacked solar cells, and the effect of the thickness of the chalcogenide active layer on the cell performance is investigated for the purpose of optimizing the cell performance. The results show that appropriately increasing the thickness of the chalcogenide layer enhances the effective absorption of photons and thus improves the cell performance, but when the thickness of the chalcogenide layer is larger than the carrier diffusion length, the carrier complex enhancement leads to a decrease in the cell performance. According to the simulation results, adjusting the thickness of the top cell of chalcogenide in the structure to 380 nm can effectively improve the PCE of the stacked solar cell up to 30.69%.
