Abstract
We review the basic ideas behind using reference points to determine the 3D position of a known object. We introduce a parallel distributed processing method for solving a family of nonlinear equations that define the constraints dictated by the point projections when the correspondence is known. This method involves updating the activations of nodes as well as the weights of the network, and as such we refer to it as an adaptive network. We discuss the possible extension of this method to the case when the correspondence is not known.
