Abstract

We report the first observation and extensive study of Spin Defect Induced Optical Excitation (SDIOE) from the singlet ground state (GS) to the lowest triplet excited state (LES) of the S=1 linear chain Heisenberg antiferromagnet (LCHA) Ni(C₂H₈N₂)₂NO₂(ClO₄) (NENP).
