This paper describes an automatic visual inspection algorithms for complex printed pattern. The inspection algorithms are based on a framework of structural approach for feature verification. It consists of a pre-processing algorithm based on low level morphological thinning operators and a model-based analysis algorithm. In addition, a width checking algorithm to detect width violations is also proposed. All the methods presented were tested on flexible printed circuit boards (PCBs) as an example.
