Abstract
To reduce sidelobes of the far field of quasi-optical antennas optical engineers tailor the aperture distribution appropriately. In this paper we show how this tailoring can be achieved by partially converting the operating mode into a mode mixture which will be launched. Criterias to find the optimum mixture will be presented. Mode conversion is achieved by using periodic wall perturbations.
