Abstract
The influence of the adiabatic-magnetic-field distribution at the entrance of wiggler on the output power, gain, and efficiency in a free- electron laser is investigated in teams of nonlinear simulation. The results show that the distribution f(ic,„z)= (1c,,,z/2aR.,)3 is better and closer to the measured data than both f(ky,z)=sin2(k„z/41•1,) and f(lc,,z)= (ky,z/2aNw) 2 • It is well known that the initial states of electrons in the interaction region of wiggler in a free-electron laser depend on the adiabatic- magnetic-field distribution. Previously ,a sine-squared adiabatic-magnetic-field distribution is usually used ,and the corresponding three- dimensional wiggler field Ell is
