Abstract
In recent years there has been an intensive effort in developing solid-state sub-millimeter sources. The two approaches for generating these frequencies have been either by a fundamental oscillator or by frequency multiplication of a millimeter wave source. Although Schottky barrier varactor multipliers have hitherto shown the highest performance at sub- millimeter wavelengths, further improvements are required for terahertz operation.1
