Abstract
Number of millimeter wave oscillator are described that use a quasi-optical resonator. The resonator consists of a smooth spherical mirror and a mirror that is made up of echelette gratings at angles of 45o to the resonator axis. Gunn- or IMPATT-diodes with proper matching network are used as the active element (depending on the oscillation frequency, the required power and other factors). The oscillation have a short-term instability of 5 10 and a frequency modulated noise of -80 to -90dB with 10kHz...,petuning from the carrier frequency. The long-term instability of 2 10 is reached with the help of thermo-stabilisation of geometrical dimentions of oscillation system by the semiconductor thermo-control elements.
