Abstract
A new adaptive digital halftoning method is presented where the screen function is designed to be adaptive to the local variation of image intensity. Wavelet transform is used to extract the information of this variation by estimating the gradient at each pixel. Our initial experimental results have shown improved visual effect of the halftoned images.
