It is suggested that x-ray lasers of photon energy in the keV range can be constructed by applying the phenomenon of anomalous x-ray absorption (the Borrmann-effect)1 and the fact that radiation is emitted by relativistic electrons between channeling states 2. The problem of producing fast electrons of high current density required is proposed to be solved by utilizing lasers of subpicosecond pulses of high intensity developed very recently.
