Abstract

In this paper, a novel kind of focusing fan-out element is introduced. It is a single planar optical element based on an area sharing arrangement of different types of phase-matched Fresnel elements. Design considerations and first experimental results for transmissive and reflective focusing fan-out elements are presented.
