Abstract

In this work, admittance diagrams are used to analyze qualitative and quantitatively the behav- ior of a rugate filter with a periodic refractive index function. Rugate filters behavior can be explained using the concept of effective refrac- tive indices which are related to the phase inte- gral in a direct way. These results are applied to determine the basic parameters of stop bands.
