Abstract
A theoretical expression based on physical model that the contribution to reflectance by a component in binary particulate mixture is proportional to its particle surface area is extended for ternary particulate mixtures. The expression derived on guidelines of the theory underestimates diffuse reflectance of several ternary powder mixtures. The proposed relation is modified taking the weightage of absorption index of particle. The modified expression satisfactorily accounts to measured reflectance spectra.
