Abstract
A study by digital simulation of the behaviour of optical correlation when the scene is immersed in noise has been carried out. Our analysis includes the some common kinds of noise: real background (figure la) and gaussian zero mean noise in grey level scenes (figure 2a) and impulsional noise in binary scenes (figure 3a). The quality of recognition has been evaluated by means of signal-to-noise ratio and discrimination capability in the correlation plane.
