Abstract
A non-adiabatic electron gun has been designed for a 35 GHz, 100 kW gyrotron. A 50 kV, 10 A laminarelectron beam has been achieved with a perpendicular to parallel velocity ratio of 1.9 for a perpendicularvelocity spread as low as 0.4% (optics and space charge). Extensive numerical parameter studies have beenperformed to investigate the constraints and performance of the gun.
