6 July 1994 Performance evaluation of a multisensor data fusion implementation: a progress report

Abstract
A sensor-level hard fusion system is currently being developed for the Canadian Patrol Frigate (CPF) within the simulation environment provided by the Combat System Test and Support Facility at Paramax. A number of operational criteria have been selected to evaluate and to compare the performance of the CPF's Command and Control System versus the data fusion system. The criteria operate on tracking and on identification in terms of time efficiency and precision. Since the implementation is done on a simulation environment, the target's ground truth is available (off-line in the current implementation). Some criteria are computed and displayed in real-time and the criteria needing access to ground truth are evaluated off-line. A subset of the performance evaluation criteria are presented and discussed. Implementation considerations are also presented.
