Abstract
To evaluate the applicability of PCS optical fiber as radiation level sensor, steady state irradiation in 0.4 to 1.6 µm wavelength range is performed and radiation induced loss measured. It is found that in the visible range the response of PCS fiber is strongly linear with dose up to 103Gy and stable in time, with sensitivity 1.47x10-1 dB/km Gy at 0.6 µm, so it can be used for radiation level dosimetric purposes at 60Co ionizig source irradiations.
