Abstract
The storage of macroscopic charged particles for a long time in a Paul trap with modified geometry operating at the atmospheric pressure is presented. A supplementary d.c. voltage allowed to estimate the specific charge ratio of the microplasma components. Ordered and stable patterns of few particles strongly damped by the surrounding air have been observed even then a single species is trapped. The observed structures are compatible with the computer simulation prediction.
