17 November 1995 Three-dimensional surface reconstruction using emission polarization

Abstract
A method for reconstructing a 3D model of an object from 2D images by analyzing emission polarization is presented. Using the result of Stokes vector analysis from 2D images of a surface, the normals to that surface at a set of points over the image can be calculated. The reconstruction method is presented, together with a discussion of the affects of errors and some practical limitations of the technique. Finally some example reconstructions are given.
