Abstract
In this paper we present a feature-based part representation scheme for explicitly describing geometric features, dimensions, tolerances and other attributes in a CIM environment. In the scheme features are constructed by the feature semantic specification, the nominal geometry, the measured entities, and attributes. Parts are then described as a graph structure in which nodes represent the feature instances, arcs describe the relationships between features. The scheme can be used to capture the designer's intent and drive the downstream activities in a CIM environment efficiently.
