Abstract
In this paper we report the results on luminescence, excitation spectra and decay times of Cs2NaLaCl6, Cs2NaLaCl6:Ce and Cs2NaCeCl6 crystals, which have been measured in order to elucidate the energy transfer processes and luminescence phenomena in the elpasolite lattice. X-ray pulse (approximately 1 ns) source (30 keV) and synchrotron radiation have been used for the luminescence excitation of the crystals. The Cs2NaCeCl6 crystal displays only Ce3+-ion luminescence bands. Luminescence excitation spectrum of the crystal shows that 5p Cs-core band also takes part in excitation of Ce3+-ions (threshold at 14 eV). The change of Ce concentration in Cs2NaLaCl6 crystals allows us to control a contribution of fast and slow components into total light output of the crystal.
