Abstract
This paper shows the design of command input shaping and smart structure actuation for vibration suppression of a single flexible link to produce a rest-to-rest, residual vibration-free maneuver. This included the development of equations of motion, numerical implementation and simulation, optimized trajectory design, system identification, and control law implementation using the University of New Mexico (UNM) single flexible link testbed. The testbed was designed, fabricated, and used to perform control law development, dynamic model identification, and sensor/actuator validation.
