12 November 1996 Secure fiber optic communication system based on the Sagnac interferometer

Abstract
The Sagnac interferometer may be used to support high speed secure fiber optic data links over distances of more than 10 km. This paper provides a description of the basic system and describes how it may be applied to campus and local area network applications.
