Abstract
The He(s$_1,3)S, 21,3P) states play a significant role in different type discharges, including laser media. There are not data in the literature for quenching of these states by atoms of rare earth elements (REE). One could not also find information about quenching of He(n1,3S, n1,3,P; n equals 3-6) states by REE (Eu and Yb) atoms. These states determinate the population of low lying He(21,3S, 21,3P) once.In this paper the theoretical calculations are done, taking into account different quenching channels. THe experimental method for investigation of He(n1,3S, n1,3P; n equals 2-6) states is presented. A computer model of the processes of interaction of low lying He states with Eu is developed.
