This paper describes how Multiple Test Procedures (MTP) can be used to achieve control over the false alarm rate in a landmine detection system. The system is based on an impulse radar to detect objects buried underground. An impulse radar combined with a detector can detect both metallic and non- metallic objects. To be able to distinguish mines from nuisance objects the detector can be followed by a classifier. One drawback with this setting is that it is very difficult to control the false alarm rate of the complete detector/classifier system. The use of MTPs is a systematic way to control the false alarm rate.
