Abstract
In this work, the feature of spatio-temporal evolution of tow partially overlapped short pulses of counterintuitive sequence in a medium of three-level absorbing atoms in conditions of adiabatic transfer of population are investigated. The analytic solution is constructed. It is shown, that selective excitation of two-photon resonant state with a near-unity probability is conserved on the length of medium, which is considerably greater than the absorption length of a weak probe pulse in the absence of a coupling pulse at the adjacent transition.
