Abstract
Amorphous rare earth-transition metal (RE-TM) alloy films are being studied as a galvanomagnetic sensor or magneto- optic storage media. The Hall effect of the magnetic films is composed of the ordinary Hall effect and extraordinary Hall effect. The magnetic and magneto-optical properties of RE-TM alloys were investigated. We found that the Hall resistivity (rho) H is large because of the large magnetic saturation Ms and electrical resistivity (rho) in amorphous film; Kerr rotation angle (theta) , and reflectivity R for SmDyFeCo films increase with increasing Pw, reaches their maximum and then decreases. The coercivity Hc increases with increasing Pw; the magnetic domains of present store information films by adding Nd, which were smaller in diameter than the present material of DyFeCo film at short wavelength, have been explored. It is also found that the experimental domain diameter of amorphous film is smaller than that of present film. So the recording density will be higher; Kerr rotation angle (theta) k and reflectivity R, for double-layered films of AlN/TbFeCo/glass have been verified.
