Abstract
This paper describes a multiservice network capacity planning method based on a simulation driven procedure. We admit that existing capacity planning methods already allow capacity estimation, but we indicate several drawbacks and inefficiencies of these methods. Our approach is alternative and can be used to obtain satisfying results without any limitations imposed by analytic approaches. The procedure is based on running event-driven simulation which 'drives' a routine which adjusts capacities of links (resources) so that the blocking probability of connections being established is less than a predefined tolerance. We analyze the procedure and present results presenting preciseness and correctness of the results obtained by the procedure.
