15 November 2001Theory of superradiant scattering from a Bose-Einstein condensate
A model of superradiant scattering of light from a Bose- Einstein condensate based on a semi-classical approach is proposed. Choosing coherent states with definite momentum as a basis of atomic states we derive a Maxwell-Bloch equations for the system considered and obtain their solutions that describe the temporal evolution of intensity of scattering light and population of the coherent atomic states.
