Abstract
SPIV was applied to a large-scale low-speed compressor facility with the configuration of the two CCD cameras placed on each side of the light sheet, so the periscope-type probe containing light sheet forming optics is not needed in the measurement, and the instantaneous velocity and vorticity distributions in several cross sections were successfully measured in the tip region of the compressor rotor at the design and near stall conditions. The results show SPIV would be a very attractive and powerful diagnostic tool for the study of complex turbomachinery flow. Some problems encountered in the measurement are also discussed.
