Abstract
A system of microprocessors on a high-speed bus offers a potential for doing faster computer vision than with a conventional uniprocessor. A previous study [1] illustrated the potential by showing that a three microprocessor systems, based on the Motorola 68000 processor, could out-perform a Vax 11/780 on a computer vision task. The essential idea is to distribute the image to different microprocessors so they can compute in parallel. This work further explores distributed vision by looking at three strategies for distributing the image in the context of a location and identification task.
